[I feel a little uncomfortable around Valerie sometimes now but I don't think that means I'm in love with her... that would be awkward.]
Mhm, you do. And anyone you love will be very lucky that you love them. [she is an unapologetic kazuki stan and supports his happiness.] ...love doesn't sound so confusing when you explain it like this.
[it? seems so normal? when kazuki describes it???]
Okay first of all, being uncomfortable around someone you killed is way different than the kind of nerves you get from having a crush or being in love. Second of all, don't turn this around on me?
[ embarrassing!!!!! ]
But yeah. The line can be blurry, and there's nothing wrong with that. It's just... something you feel. It's hard to explain because it doesn't really make sense all the time, and it's always different for different people. Love isn't really supposed to be a logical thing.
From some of what I've heard and from some of the things I've read, it seemed like it might not be that different, although it did also seem really weird to me... but, Kyoko's right. We want you to be happy!
[she needs to not take literature recs from sqq maybe. his taste in tropes.........
anyway, yeah, she nods.]
Feelings are extremely difficult to put into words, and even harder to understand if you haven't experienced them yourself... [she sighs] I read books to try, but I guess there are so many perspectives on it that I just got more confused.
Um... Thanks? But I'm only eighteen. There's plenty of time for that in the future.
Anyway, I'm going to be honest with you guys, I don't think most of the people here are really in a good place to have a healthy romantic relationship with anyone. Emphasis on the "healthy."
[ he nods at them both. ]
Yeah, it's a feeling. And you can guess what to expect? But you don't always know when you're the one feeling it, because it's not always the same.
...And books are a little... exaggerated? No matter if they make it a good or a bad thing to be in love. They're for entertainment, so they're not always realistic.
[Thinks about what a clownshow it's been from the beginning and considers how healthy any of these people would be in a relationship.]
Who do you think is the most healthy in a relationship? [From the extremely slim pickings we have here.]
Hmm... So the books aren't always going to portray it accurately. Some of them feel like they aren't particularly good relationships to begin with either. [It's for the romantic drama, but she doesn't get that.]
...I guess being in a situation like this one is not very good for developing healthy romantic relationships.
[lmao. rip to all murdergame ships, i guess.]
Oh... good, that's kind of a relief, though. If love was supposed to be like in Romeo and Juliet, then I would never ever want to fall in love. [thinks about it...] ...although, I guess books about love in Sumeru aren't any less confusing.
[What was it again...? A story about a boy who turns into a cat, and then falls in love with a beautiful cat after going on adventures with a bunch of other cats...? But then he turns back into a human and takes the beautiful cat home to be his pet... I never understood that one, but some people seemed to think it was a really good ending...
(i'm not making this up btw this story got mentioned in the shared sight event it's genshin canon i hate this game)]
I don't know everyone who's in a relationship in this place, so I don't think I can answer that. But I wouldn't say it's impossible to start a healthy relationship here, just... harder, maybe? Because of everything.
Books have a lot of unhealthy relationships because they aren't real, so they don't have to be, you know? People can have all that drama or danger in the stories they read without having to put themselves in that position in real life. It's like a safe way to explore something different that you probably wouldn't want to experience firsthand, because it might be exciting, but it's actually terrible.
And Romeo and Juliet is, like, the worst example of love, no matter how many people talk about it that way. It's a tragedy, not a romance. [ ... ] I don't even want to think about this cat story, either. That's just weird.
I... suppose I can understand that well enough. [Books aren't real, so they're safe to experience without doing any actual lasting damage to the people who experience them. It's like having a window into a different life, but that's all.]
[Is this really a good ending to a story? This seems so complicated... Is he still into this beautiful cat? Emotions are so difficult, does the boy want to be a cat again? Wouldn't that be a better ending? Or... why was he even a cat in the first place?]
...I guess with the way books tend to exaggerate things for dramatic effect, and allow people to explore relationship dynamics that aren't healthy... it might be more concerning if you started a relationship with someone and it seemed like one that came out of a book?
[maybe???
...I don't have any answers to those questions. All I know is that it's a favorite story of one of the scholars from Amurta.]
Yeah, definitely. Not all romances in books are going to be inherently bad? Some of them are pretty good or idealistic examples... [ pretend he names some here. like holes. ] But generally, I'd say that if someone says it's like a book, then it might be something unrealistic, at the very least.
...Why are you invested in this cat book. I would say that's not a good example of romance, it's just creepy.

We can hope for your happiness.
[She can at least identify the issue at hand.]
That's why we're having a problem with it. It's just... a feeling? Is that correct?
